Rescue Agreement

The Space Rescue Agreement ( in the original English " Agreement on the Rescue of Astronauts, the Return of Astronauts and the Return of Objects Launched into Outer Space " ) is an international Agreement on the Rescue of Astronauts from space. It complements Article 5 of the Outer Space Treaty, signed in 1968.

Content

In the Convention the signatory States and organizations undertake to send any help distressed astronauts and they provide return as soon as possible to their home country after a successful rescue.

Article 1 stipulates that, once a signer learns of the emergency situation of a spaceship whose State or organization and the Secretary General of the United Nations as soon as possible informed of this.

Article 2 deals with the rescue of a landed in a foreign country spaceship.

Article 3 deals with the recovery in international waters.

Article 4 specifies that a crew landed is delivered to their home country.

Article 5 obliges the signatory parties to return landed spacecraft (or other space hardware ) to the producer nation or organization.

Article 6 defines the term "launching authority" as a state or organization that is responsible for the launch.

Article 7 explains the possible circle of signatories and the formalities of signing or ratification.

Article 8 allows any party to proposals to extend the agreement to bring.

Article 9 describes the possibility of withdrawal from the agreement.

Article 10 establishes the allocation of the Agreement.
