Rescue Engineering
Rescue Engineering ( formerly Rescue engineering ) is an interdisciplinary bachelor's degree at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne (since winter semester 2002 ) and at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg (since summer semester 2006). It includes a basic academic- scientific engineering undergraduate. Later in the main study skills in leadership, organization and management of enterprises and organization of the emergency services, ie fire brigades, rescue services and other aid agencies are taught.

Universities
Rescue engineering has so far been taught because of the specialization and the short history since 2002 at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne in Engineering Sciences ( IWZ ) at the Faculty of Engineering, Energy and Mechanical Systems ( F09 ) and at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg at the Faculty of Life Sciences. The conditions are the general technical college and a twelve -week internship ( FH Köln ) or thirteen weeks subject-specific pre-study internship in Rettungs-/Ingenieurswesen (HAW Hamburg). RE is a full time course, take place in the lectures and tutorials, and practicals are to be completed. Expert supervision, lecturers and the contact to the business is ensured both in Hamburg and Cologne by the collaboration with the institutes of Emergency Medicine and the Fire Services.
In Cologne and Hamburg awarded the academic degree "Bachelor of Engineering", ie awarded an engineering degree. The three- semester master's program permanent rescue Engineering " Master of Science" (M.Sc. ) and the siebensemestrige bachelor's degree program at FH Cologne and the HAW Hamburg were successfully accredited by the accreditation agency ASIIN.
Content
The curriculum comprises similar to that of a industrial engineer engineering and business-related studies and is supplemented by specialist and social scientific foundations. Depending on the university, different modules are taught.
Engineering Science subjects
The first semester of study are characterized primarily engineering science. Besides the basics of mathematics, physics, and chemistry knowledge in the fields of mechanics, materials science, electrical engineering and instrumentation are taught. These subjects are supplemented by lectures in the field of structural engineering, communication technology and automotive technology. In the new study order of FH Cologne (starting 05) are now the modules Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Mathematics II / integral and statistics included to emphasize the engineering sciences.
Economics, Business and Management subjects
Since executives have always to meet and economic decisions, a basic knowledge of business administration such as accounting and capital budgeting are taught at Rescue Engineering. Subject-specific subjects

Since the winter semester 2007/2008 the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg offers the degree program security / Hazard Control (B. Eng.) To (formerly Hazard Control). The curriculum of studies ranging from engineering and science basics about contents of a firefighter, technical training, civil defense and the non-police security to economic and social science issues. The study was developed in collaboration with the Hamburg Fire Brigade. Part of the lectures by leading faculty of the fire academy Hamburg. The Hamburg Fire Department has terminated the cooperation agreement with the University in 2012. The program is suspended for the winter semester 2013/14.

Safety and Security
Since the winter semester 2003/2004 the Magdeburg-Stendal University and the University of Magdeburg jointly offer the degree program security and safety (B. Sc.). Here, there is close cooperation with the Institute of the fire Saxony-Anhalt and the Institute of Fire and Disaster Protection Heyrothsberge.
The study is similar in content security / Hazard Control, but it is a greater emphasis on industrial safety and fire prevention. Through electives, the exact field of study can be influenced individually.
Also offered is a Master study course (M. Sc.), Which since the end of 2011 in the majors " Fire " and " Industrial Safety " is divided.
