Research Papers in Economics

Research Papers in Economics ( RePEc ) is a 1997 launched the Open Access project that has made it with hundreds of volunteers from 70 countries are currently committed to advancing the spread of scientific publications in the fields of economics and related disciplines.

The core of the project is a decentralized database of working papers on the, preprints, journal articles from journals and software components can be accessed. This RePEc does not represent the full texts themselves, but the bibliographic information. About links are present, however, over 450,000 Items online in full text available. Although the download most of the items are free of charge, the copyright remains with the authors.

The special feature of RePEc is that even bibliographic information is collected from unpublished material and made accessible. Here, this volunteer project is dependent on the participation of both individuals as well as institutions. Scientists who belong to an institution without RePEc archive can publish their publications on the Munich Personal RePEc Archive ( MPRA ).

Even leading publishers such as Elsevier, Springer and Oxford University Press have listed their publications from the industry in RePEc. In addition, Research Papers in Economics is networked with the EconLit database of the American Economic Association, thereby increasing the accessibility since the publications can also be found via external search queries.

Internal statistics illustrate which items have the most downloads and it will, for example, a ranking of the 25 most popular of the more than 26,000 authors created. Currently, Joseph E. Stiglitz, James Heckman and Andrei Shleifer occupy the first three places.
