Reseau plate

The Réseaugitter a camera is a basis for the use of a camera as a measurement camera. As Réseaugitter mostly glass plates with high precision etched crosses, so-called Réseaukreuzen, or fiducial marks are used. For very simple needs, you can also use the four corners of a photo as grid points. The grid itself is mounted directly in front of the film plane in the camera and is imaged as in every shot with. Since the position of the réseau is known very accurately, it is possible to compensate for distortions of the images, such as film deformations in the development, non- flatness of the film while recording, scanning or digitizing tablet nonlinearities discontinuities mathematically. This is the more accurate will be the more réseau measured.
