Reshafim

Reschafim (Hebrew רשפים, often in the style similar to the English spelling Reshafim ) is a kibbutz is three kilometers southwest of the city of Beit She'an in the Regional District of Valley Springs.

The founders were non-religious Polish and Romanian Holocaust survivor, also members of the socialist youth movement Hashomer Hatzair. They were allocated in the 1948 state land in the Aschrafie - region after the Arab inhabitants had fled in May before units of the Golani Brigade to Jordan. In a makeshift settlement they lived together with members of the Orthodox Bnei Akiva movement - which kibbutz constructions Schluchot. This close cooperation between non- religious and religious Jews was unique.

In the 1950s, the population of the kibbutz enlarged by the influx of new members of Hashomer Hatzair from Argentina, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt and Syria. From the 1960s on, it was with most new Kibbutzniks natural born Israelis, but also some volunteers from Europe settled here.

Since 1990 takes place in Reschafim a profound economic and social change. The privatization has taken all parts of the kibbutz life.
