Reting Monastery

The Radreng monastery was originally a monastery of the Kadam school, the first Sarma traditions of Buddhism in Tibet. It lies in the valley of the Radreng Rongchu ( rwa sgreng rong chu ) north of the city of Lhasa in the circle Lhünzhub in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. The monastery was founded in 1057 by Dromtönpa and was the first monastery of this school, which spread rapidly over Tibet. At the beginning of the 15th century, Tsongkhapa, the Gelug School, which merged in the Kadam tradition. Mid-18th century, the monastery was the seat of the Radreng Rinpoche.

A part of the monastery was destroyed in 1951 by an earthquake.

The monastery is on the list of monuments of Tibet Autonomous Region.
