The Rettbach is a tributary of the Red, a tributary of the Apfelstädt in Thuringia. Together with the red it forms the surface water bodies Roth .. According to § 3 of the Thuringian Water Act, the water status of a water body of the second order and is therefore in the entertainment burden of communities that are traversed by the waters.

Siebgen source

Northeast of the town Kleinrettbach is the Siebgen source. Here arises the Rettbach. The source is surrounded by a fence- winning wall in a square of about 1.6 m edge length. The water level of the spring water is about 1 m depth. The source was never runs dry. As in the 1880s there was a great drought and dryness, the inhabitants of the surrounding villages came here to fetch water.

Course

The stream now flows past the southern edge of Kleinrettbach, then on through Großrettbach and Cobstädt. There he joins the Red, which comes from the direction Siebleben and Tüttleben and opens into the Apfelstädt in nearby hiking life.

More

The Rettbachwasser was used formerly in Kleinrettbach for brewing beer. The creek flowed earlier by the sheep wash house and the flax retting. 1911 Kleinrettbach received one of the first villages in a water pipe.
