Return to paradise is an American adventure film directed by Mark Robson in 1953 with Gary Cooper in the lead role.

Action

The aging Morgan comes with a boat on a South Sea island. Upon arrival there is a dispute with the followers of a pastor. The locals are impressed. He remains on the island and learns that the islanders are oppressed by the strict Pastor Corbett.

Morgan brings to the locals to move away from the rule of the pastor. The men of the pastor are sold. The pastor sees his excessive force. During a party he meets the young Eingeborenene Maeva. They fall in love.

Despite the common happy time and although Maeva is pregnant, he makes a small boat ready to sail to travel further back. With the departure Maeva too far for him and goes to capsize. Morgan can save them. Brings you a healthy baby girl and dies after giving birth. He leaves the island.

Years later, Morgan runs into an adult islanders. He returns to the island to see his now adult daughter Turia. In a crash, an aircraft he can save the young American Harry Faber. There will be a romance between his daughter and the pilot.

Morgan, who does not trust this connection and fears that Turia runs in their misfortune, Harry tried to move to leave the island. The pastor offers a helping hand and causes at Morgan rethinking.

Background

The screenplay by Charles Kaufman was based on the story Mr. Morgan by James A. Michener, who appeared in his short story, novel, Return to Paradise.

For lead actor Gary Cooper it was the only collaboration with director Mark Robson and his first film he turned completely outside the U.S. in Western Samoa.

The United Artists brought the film in 1954 in the West German cinemas. In this modern common Gary Cooper was dubbed the voice of Wolfgang Lukschy.
