ReVamp

ReVamp is a symphonic metal band from the Netherlands, which was founded in 2009.

History

After the dissolution of the symphonic metal band After Forever in 2009 intended the former singer Floor Jansen to start a new musical project. With Waldemar Sorychta and the former After Forever keyboardist Joost van den Broek joined her on two composers with whom she worked on an album together. October 17, 2009 Jansen announced the band's name ReVamp.

After the album was completed in early 2010 formed the occupation in which the band from then presented with their live performances: Floor Jansen (vocals), Arjan Rijnen and Jord Otto ( guitar), Jaap Melman ( bass), Ruben Wijga ( keyboard) and Matthias Landes ( drums). The band performed among others at the Graspop Metal Meeting on June 25, 2010 in Dessel (Belgium ) on.

The debut album of the band entitled ReVamp was published in May 2010 in Europe, and in July 2010 in the United States. The album reached number 26 in the Greek and number 58 in the Dutch charts.

2011 the band had several concerts - including a planned tour of Latin America - to cancel due to health problems of Floor Jansen.

On October 1, 2012 Floor Jansen was presented as a guest vocalist for the remaining concerts of the current Imaginaerum World Tour of the symphonic metal band Nightwish. After completing the tour Jansen participated in the recording of the second album by ReVamp.

On May 15, 2013 were announced that bassist Jaap Melman has left the band. At the same time Henk Vonk was presented as successor.

The second album Wild Card was released on August 23, 2013. It reached # 21 in the Finnish and number 43 in the Dutch charts.

On October 9, 2013 Floor Jansen has been confirmed as the official singer of Nightwish. According to Jansen, the continued existence of ReVamp thereof shall remain unaffected.

In November 2013 a joint European tour followed with the melodic power metal band Kamelot.

Others

The name ReVamp symbolizes the personal significance of the band for Floor Jansen.

The logo of the band consists of the Greek letter omega ( Ω ).
