Revilo Pendleton Oliver (* July 7, 1908 in Corpus Christi, Texas; † August 10, 1994 in Urbana, Illinois) was American professor of Classical philology, Spanish, and Italian at the University of Illinois.

Life

Revilo P. Oliver was born on July 7, 1908 near Corpus Christi in the U.S. state of Texas. The decision of his parents to give his son a palindromic name is - due to a six- generation family tradition reaching back - according to Oliver. The young Oliver visited two years in the Illinois High School, then in California.
