Reykjanesbær (Eng. " smoke Peninsula City " ) is a town on the peninsula Reykjanesskagi in southwest Iceland.
It was created in 1994 by the merger of the towns Keflavík ( Keflavíkurbær ) and Njarðvík ( Njarðvíkurbær ) with the rural community Hafnir ( Hafnahreppur ). Since 2007 there is the new town Vallarheiði ( 539 inhabitants).
The municipality has a total of 14,172 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2009).

The largest city of the municipality is Keflavík with 8169 inhabitants.
Njarðvík
Njarðvík (Eng. "Bay of Njörðr " ) is an Icelandic town ( 4398 inhabitants) in the west of the peninsula Reykjanesskagi. The quiet port town ( fishing and fish processing ) is divided into two districts: Innri - Njarðvík (interior Njarðvík ) and Ytri - Njarðvík ( the much younger district, exterior Njarðvík ).
The place has little architectural features worth mentioning is the headstrong designed bright concrete church Ytri - Njarðvíkurkirkja of Ormar Þór Guðmundsson and Örnólfur Hall, which was consecrated in 1979. In the older part of the village is consecrated in 1886 and built of stone Innri - Njarðvíkurkirkja. The village also has a youth hostel.
Hafnir
Hafnir is a small village with 142 inhabitants on the west side of the Reykjanesskagi, located on the southern shore of the bay Ósar.
