Reykjanesviti

Reykjanesviti (the lighthouse of Reykjanes ) is the oldest lighthouse in Iceland. It is located on the southwestern tip of Iceland on the Reykjanesskagi Peninsula.

The tower was first built in 1878, was destroyed eight years later in an earthquake. Since 1929, the present tower is in operation, a concrete tower with traditional looks. It has a height of 31 meters, the rotary light of the tower is located at a height of 73 meters above the sea. The tower is white, only the light room is painted red.

The characteristic mark of the tower is a twice flash every thirty seconds. On the roof there is a DGPS transmitter.
