Reynolds 531
Reynolds 531 is the brand name for steel pipes that are installed in the bicycle frame Reynolds Cycle Technology in Birmingham, England. It is in the tubes to an alloy of steel, manganese and molybdenum medium carbon content.
History
The tubes were introduced in 1935 and were overhauled in the wake of the development of more complex alloys of other technologies.
Composition
The alloy of the tubes is about 1.5 % manganese, 0.25 % molybdenum and 0.35 % carbon and is therefore similar to the British BS970 En 16/18-Stahl.
