RF switch

The antenna switch is called a device that allows the operator of a radio station, target a radio to different antennas or to control various radios from inverted the same antenna. There are passive, located directly within easy reach of the operator devices and remote-controlled, mostly electro-mechanically actuated models.

Construction

Mostly it is to switch that can switch between multiple coaxial cables (usually two or four, but there are also switches with more outputs). The basic structure is very simple, since the shielding of the coaxial cable is connected to ground and thus only the soul of the input cable must be connected to the output. If, for example, in the gigahertz technology requires lower losses, the structure complicates significantly as care must be taken here at the lowest possible attenuation. The same is true for high transmission power, as this can be caused by heat losses and this, if this fact has not been adequately considered in the design, with simple switches would lead to a welding of switch contacts.
