Rhenium (VII ) sulfide is an inorganic chemical compound of the rhenium from the group of sulfides.
Production and representation
Rhenium (VII ) sulfide with hydrogen sulfide can be obtained by reaction of a perrhenate solution (of potassium perrhenate in hydrochloric acid as ).
Properties
Rhenium (VII ) sulfide is a brownish-black to black X-ray amorphous powder, which usually contains some water and sulfur. Insoluble in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and alkali metal sulfides in the absence of air. It is oxidized by ReO4 - oxidants such as nitric acid or bromine water slowly by atmospheric oxygen. At temperatures above 250 ° C and the onset of decay in the rhenium (IV ) sulphide and sulfur. Reduced hydrogen it at elevated temperature to rhenium. It crystallizes in a tetragonal crystal system.
Use
Rhenium (VII ) sulfide is used for the preparation of rhenium, because it is obtained in the roasting process to copper recovery.
