Rhipsalis russellii
Rhipsalis russellii is a flowering plant in the genus rhipsalis from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).
Description
Rhipsalis russellii growing epiphytic or epilithisch with upright to arching stems that are in dense clusters. The highly flattened dark green shoots have protruding veins. They are up to 15 centimeters long and 5-6 centimeters wide. Their edges are reddish purple, notched and lobed. The areoles are whitish.
The numbers that appear at the side, cream -colored flowers appear singly or in groups of up to nine per areole, are to 2 millimeters long and can reach a diameter of 7 millimeters. The spherical fruits are orange purple to something.
Distribution, systematics and hazard
Rhipsalis russellii is widespread in the Brazilian states of Bahia, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo. The first description was published in 1923 by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose.
Rhipsalis russellii is on the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN as " Vulnerable (VU) ," ie, compromised classified.
