Rhomboid minor muscle

The muscle rhomboid minor (Latin for "little diamond-shaped muscle " or " small diamond muscle ") is a skeletal muscle and part of the back muscles.

The muscle originates on the spinous processes of the last two cervical vertebrae and inserts on the dorsal edge of the scapula. The muscle rhomboid minor is above the muscle rhomboid major, both of which are covered by the trapezius muscle. Along with this muscle he fixed the scapula on the thorax and pull it towards the back.

Pets

A direct equivalent for the rhomboid minor muscle does not exist in the veterinary anatomy. Here there are two Musculi lying on the neck rhomboidei:

The Musculus rhomboideus cervicis ( " diamond-shaped muscle of the neck " ) originates in dogs, cats and pigs on the back-side connecting line of the neck muscles of both sides, in horses and ruminants on the neckband ( nuchal ligament ). It is a strip-shaped band of muscle at the neck back.

The muscle rhomboid capitis ( " diamond-shaped muscle of the head " ) is a narrow splitting of the musculus rhomboideus cervix at the level of the fourth cervical vertebra in dogs, cats and pigs, which pulls the neck crest ( crista nuchae ) of the occipital bone.
