Rhomphaia

The Romphaia was a crescent -like heavy and exceptionally long (up to 2 meters) Broadsword of the Thracians.

Description

The Rhomphaia has a curved inward curvature and is polished on the inside or both sides. It was invented around the year 400 BC, and was performed with both hands. It had devastating effect, especially from the horse. Accordingly, by sweeping movements, it was the warlike Thracians using the Romphaia possible to chop off heads and arms of their opponents and even supposed to divide into two bodies. The Romphaia was similar to the Dacian falx.
