Rhona Brankin

Rhona Brankin ( born January 19, 1950) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999, 2003 and 2007, she won each the direct mandate in the constituency of Midlothian and moved into the Scottish Parliament. In July 2010, Brankin manifested itself not to stand for election.

Life

Brankin attended Jordanhill College School in Glasgow and the University of Aberdeen, graduating with a bachelor for teaching in history and politics. At Moray House College of Education in Edinburgh Brankin was then trained as a primary school teacher. In the following years, she held various positions as a teacher.

Between 1999 and 2011 Brankin won the direct mandate of their constituency Midlothian, which was dissolved by the revision of constituencies in 2011, so there is no direct successor. In the Scottish Parliament she held various positions as Secretary of State, among other things, culture, development, environment and health.

Rhona Brankin is married and has two grown daughters.
