Rhys Wakefield

Rhys Wakefield ( born November 20, 1988 in Cairns, Queensland) is an Australian actor.

Life and career

Wakefield was born in Cairns, Queensland. He attended classes at the McDonald College of Performing Arts, where he received a scholarship in 2003. During this time he played with in many plays such as Shakespeare and was involved in projects with the Opera Australia and the Australian Ballet. In addition to his courses at the McDonald College, he attended an acting school. In 2006, he completed his degree at the McDonald College.

His acting career began in 2000 with a small role in the movie boot menu. The following year, he starred in the eleventh and twelfth episodes of the TV series koalas and other relatives as Brad. His breakthrough in Australia, he managed in the soap opera Home and Away. There he was shown from August 2005 to February 2008 when Lucas Holden. For this role he was nominated for a Logie Award in 2006. In 2008 he received his first starring role in the feature film The Black Balloon, in which he played the role of Thomas Mollison. The film premiered in February 2008 at the International Film Festival of Berlin premiere, where he received the Crystal Bear in the Generation 14plus category.

After his departure from Home and Away, he starred in the action film produced by James Cameron Sanctum as Josh McGuire in 2011. In addition, he received roles in the films Broken Hill (2009 ) Nobody Walks (2012 ), The Purge - The Cleansing (2013 ) and Endless Love (2014). At the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in 2013, the science fiction film The Philosophers celebrated - Who will survive? with Wakefield in the role of James premiere.
