Ribble Valley

Ribble Valley is a local government district with the status of a borough in the county of Lancashire in England, which is named after the River Ribble. Administrative center is the city of Clitheroe. Other important towns are Longridge, Ribchester and Whalley.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Municipal Borough Clitheroe, the Urban District Longridge, of Clitheroe Rural District and parts of the Rural Districts Blackburn, Burnley and Preston. From the West Riding of Yorkshire the Bowland Rural District was added.
