Ribophorin

Ribophorin (also dolichyl - diphosphooligosaccharid protein glycosyltransferase ) is an enzyme in eukaryotes, which is together with other component of the polypeptides oligosaccharyltransferase complex ( OST) in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), for which the N- glycosylation of other proteins is necessary. Ribophorin is the enzymatically active subunit.

Ribophorin is multicellular animals in two isoforms ( Ribophorin I and II). Ribophorin for I could be shown that the active site of the oligosaccharyltransferase supplying certain proteins and therefore provides a N- glycosylation.
