Ricardo Calvo

Ricardo Calvo Mínguez ( born October 22, 1943 in Alcoy, † 26 September 2002) was a Spanish doctor, chess player and historian.

Ricardo Calvo played in the Spanish team at the Chess Olympiads from 1966 to 1974. In 1973 it was the title of International Master by FIDE awarded. From 1982 to 1984 he played in the chess Bundesliga for Bayern Munich. After he had been critical of the World Chess Federation, he was told in 1987 by the FIDE persona non grata.

Ricardo Calvo was also active as a chess journalist, chess historian and chess politicians. He died from the effects of esophageal cancer.
