Julio Ricardo " Ricky" Villa ( born August 18, 1952 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine footballer.

Playing career

He began his career in 1970 in Argentina and played there last in 1978 for the Racing Club of Buenos Aires. After winning the 1978 World Cup with the Argentine national team in their own country, he joined together with Osvaldo Ardiles to England Tottenham Hotspur, for whom he scored 18 goals in 133 league games until 1983. In the final of the FA Cup in 1981, he scored two goals for the 3-2 win against Manchester City. During this time the bearded midfielder had T -shirts produced with his image and distribute that were modeled after the legendary photo of Che Guevara. 1983 he moved to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and was from 1984 to 1989 his career in unterklassigen Argentine clubs finish.
