Richard Ashcroft

Richard Paul Ashcroft ( born September 11, 1971 in Wigan, England ) is a British musician, who ( in The Verve renamed later) was as the frontman of Verve known. He is a songwriter, singer, guitarist and also plays keyboard and piano.

Life

Richard Ashcroft was born in 1971 in Wigan, an English town between Liverpool and Manchester. His childhood was marked by the early death of his father. In 2005, he publicly came to be suffering from bipolar disorder and to take medication such as Prozac. At school he played in the football team and dreamed at first of becoming a professional at Manchester United. In 1989 he founded with three friends, the band The Verve. This broke apart, despite (or because of ) great successes in 1999, after Ashcroft focused on his solo career. In the same year the former Spiritualized keyboardist Kate Radley ® -, whom he married in 1995, his manager was. In March 2000, his first son Sonny was born, four years later his second, Cassius.

Career

The Verve

With his band The Verve Ashcroft took until 1998 to a total of three albums and several EPs. The early music of the band was there marked by improvisational tive song structures. Since the recordings of their second album The Verve A Northern Soul, Richard Ashcroft then exerts in songwriting and has specially composed two songs for the phonogram. The brothers Gallagher recognize him immediately with a song on the second Oasis album, " Cast No Shadow is dedicated to the genius of Richard Ashcroft ." After the first separation by The Verve in the summer of 1995 Ashcroft takes a first attempt for a solo career and already performing live as a solo Voract of Oasis.

Little happy with the solo artist Richard Ashcroft existence joins a Rolling Stones cover band and finally drives a reunion of The Verve ahead. The following photos to Urban Hymns are influenced by his first solo plans and the now mature songwriting Ashcroft. The final separation of the band on 28 April 1999 led to a second and resounding start his solo career.

Solo career

His recent 2000 solo debut album Alone with Everybody is based to a large extent still on demo songs for the last The- Verve album (esp. A Song for the Lovers, New York, C'Mon People) and thus has more parallels the last music of The Verve than the published 2002 Human Conditions. Both albums show influences from soul music and country pop music and offer a high level. He was supported, among others, his wife Kate (keyboards), ex -The- Verve drummer Peter Salisbury and Wil Malone, a former Iron Maiden produced and later (as in Ashcroft albums) string passages for groups such as Massive Attack and Oasis arranged. For his second album, Richard Ashcroft fulfilled a dream: he took with the ex- Beach Boys singer Brian Wilson song Nature Is the Law on.

In the summer of 2005, Ashcroft announced back when he appeared in the opening act of the Twisted Logic Tour of the successful British band Coldplay and there presented pieces from his two solo works. Along with Coldplay, he joined then also at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park, London. He took over the vocals for The Verve hit Bittersweet Symphony. Ashcroft's third solo album Keys to the World was released in early 2006. Vorabsingle Break the Night with Colour climbed in England number 3 on the charts and was highly frequented in Germany over the radio.

Dual-career

In the summer of 2007, there was a revival of The Verve in the original cast including Richard Ashcroft. They released the album Forth, coupled out two singles and played at several festivals. Ashcroft stressed, however, that he will continue to be active in parallel as a solo musician.

So he started in 2009 with the preparations for a new album. On his website he left in the summer of his fans to vote on their best B-sides and collaborations. In December 2009 he released the song The Journey, which is the title song of the same short film from director Richard Jobson. The revenue from film and soundtrack are the Helen Bamber Foundation donated the campaigns against trafficking in women.

His latest project is called RPA & The United Nations of Sound. The first song with a new band called Are You Ready? and was presented exclusively on the website of the NME. The accompanying album, entitled United Nations of Sound was released in June 2010. Moreover, some concerts in Europe, the project was in June 2010. In the U.S., the album from a marketing point under his solo pseudonym Richard Ashcroft has been published. The movie The Plan (Original Title: The Adjustment Bureau ) they contributed the title Future's Bright, the film producer George Nolfi also composed the music video.

Comeback as a soloist

Since the end of 2011 Ashcroft is working on his fourth solo album which will be released in late 2012. According to Ashcroft, it should be strengthened song- oriented again. Here him support among others Verve drummer Peter Salisbury, guitarist Steve Wyreman (United Nations of Sound ) and Kate Radley on keyboards.
