Richard G. Wilkinson

Richard G. Wilkinson ( Richard Gerald Wilkinson, born 1943 ) is a British scientist and professor emeritus of health.

Life

Wilkinson studied economic history at the London School of Economics and Political Science. After this study he devoted himself to epidemiology. He is professor emeritus of social epidemiology at the University of Nottingham and Honorary Professor at University College London. He also was a visiting professor at the University of York. Large gained fame Wilkinson, 2009 when he, together with Kate Pickett published the book The spirit level, in which they set out a link between social inequality and social problems. Together with Bill Pickett and Kerry in the same year he founded the Equality Trust, which deals with the awareness of the consequences of inequality and possible measures for their reduction.
