Richard Hadlee

Sir Richard Hadlee John MBE ( born July 3, 1951 in Christchurch, New Zealand) (nicknamed " paddles " ) is a former New Zealand cricketer. His father Walter Hadlee and his brothers Dayle and Barry Hadlee also played cricket for the New Zealand test team. Richard Hadlee is considered the best all-rounders in the history of the New Zealand Crickets. A jury of Wisden Cricketers ' Almanack, he was elected by Muttiah Muralitharan become the second best bowler in the history of Test Cricket.

Career

His test debut Richard Hadlee in February 1973 against Pakistan in Wellington. He played 86 Test matches during his career for New Zealand in which he scored a total of 3124 runs and 431 wickets. He is one of only nine players who reached more than 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Test cricket. Hadlee is also the first cricketer who reached 400 Testwickets. For this he needed only 79 tests. In addition, Hadlee played 115 One- Day International matches ( ODIs ) for New Zealand. Overall, he scored 1751 runs and 158 wickets in ODIs. Hadlee also participated in three Cricket World Cups (1975, 1979 and 1983).

Others

Before his last test run, which he denied in July 1990 against England in Birmingham, he was knighted. He was also elected as one of New Zealand 's Top 100 History Makers. In April 2009, Richard Hadlee was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
