Richard Harris Barham

Richard Harris Barham ( born December 6, 1788 in Canterbury, England, † June 17, 1845 in London) was an English poet.

Life

Richard Harris Barham was ordained after completing his studies in 1813 for the ministry. He wrote comic and humorous prose and verse narratives, which were published in 1837 as " Ingoldsby Legends ." Characteristic of the works Barhams are a macabre joke and a clear orientation towards in the grotesque. Richard Harris Barham died on 17 June 1845 in London.
