Richard Howitt

Richard Howitt ( born April 5, 1961 in Reading, Berkshire ) is a British Labour Party politician.

Life

After attending a comprehensive school Howitt studied politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford University. He graduated with a BA degree in these subjects in 1982. He also has a postgraduate diploma in Management Studies from the University of Hertfordshire. After graduation, he worked for four years in the voluntary sector and eight years for a disability organization Howitt was a member of the Harlow District Council from 1983 to 1995, including three years as chairman of the meeting. In 1987 he was a candidate of the Labour Party in Billericay in the general election. Richard Howitt is a member of the Labour Party National Policy Forum since 1994 and since 1999 Member of the European Parliament.

In EU Parliament Howitt is active as a member and representative of the following committees and delegations:

As a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Human Rights and in the Delegation to the EU -Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee.

As a deputy, he is also involved in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, in the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan, and in the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia and the Delegation for relations with the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO.
