Richard Schuil ( born 2 May 1973 in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands) is a Dutch volleyball and beach volleyball player.

Career

Indoor Volleyball

Richard Schuil started his career in Leeuwarden. The real breakthrough came at Piet Zoomers Apeldoorn. Later he moved to the Italian League where he played for Tele Unit Gioia del Colle, Daytona Pallavolo Modena and Padua. Schuil was then the top players at the Belgian club Noliko Maaseik.

Richard Schuil was with the Dutch national team in 1996 Olympic champion in Atlanta. In 1997 he was European champion. Then he took twice participated in the Olympic Games in Indoor Volleyball, 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens. Overall he had 380 missions in the national team.

Beach volleyball

Richard Schuil playing beach volleyball since 2006 with Reinder Nummerdor on the FIVB World Tour and on the CEV European Tour. Your first major success was the duo Nummerdor / Schuil 2007 with the victory at the FIVB tournament in Manama ( Bahrain). At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 they reached the fifth place. In the years 2008 to 2010 she became European champions three times in a row. Your next FIVB title won both Western Europeans at the last event in 2011 in Agadir. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, she reached the fourth place.

Private

Richard Schuil married on June 6, 2009, the Dutch volleyball player Elke Wijnhoven. In March 2012, their daughter Lisa was born.
