Richard Thomas (lawyer)

Richard Thomas ( * 1949 ) is a British data protection expert.

Thomas was appointed on 30 November 2002 on the Information Commissioner and was dated 2 December 2002 to 2009 in the office. He was the government towards independent and taught directly by Parliament. Langer's at this time supervisory authority is responsible for the Data Protection Act 1998, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Regulations 2004.

Thomas was the representative of the United Kingdom in the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party.
