Richard Thomas (mathematician)

Richard Paul Thomas is a British mathematician who with geometry ( algebraic geometry, differential geometry, symplectic geometry) and their applications in mathematical physics employed ( Calabi -Yau manifolds, mirror symmetry, gauge field theories ). He is a professor at Imperial College London.

Thomas in 1997 received his doctorate at Oxford University with Simon Donaldson ( Gauge theory on Calabi - Yau manifolds ).

In 2004 he was awarded the Whitehead Prize and the Leverhulme price and Wolfson Research Merit Award 2010 of the Royal Society. In 2010 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Hyderabad ( India) ( Exercises in Mirror Symmetry ).
