Robert Rechsteiner ( born March 9, 1961 in Bay City, Michigan ), better known as Rick Steiner, is an American professional wrestler. Rick is well known for performances at the National Wrestling Alliance, World Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation. He appeared as a single wrestler and as half of the tag team, " Steiner Brothers" with his younger brother Scott.

Life

Rick Steiner was a very successful wrestler already in his school days at the University of Michigan. He holds there the record for the fastest victory in just 15 seconds. After college, Rick Steiner decided to start with the professional wrestling and underwent a training by Eddie Sharkey.

Career

Rick Steiner completed his first professional fights in the AWA and in Montreal. Then he went to UWF, where he formed a team with Buzz Sawyer, Eddie Gilbert and Sting. In the mid- 1980s, Rick then moved to the National Wrestling Alliance, where he made the Varsity Club with Mike Rotunda and Kevin Sullivan.

In 1988 his younger brother Scott Steiner was also a professional wrestler, so that the two immediately formed a tag team, which was known as the Steiner Brothers. They were also Tag Team Champions in the shortest possible time. This track they defended very successful in Japan. After Scott Steiner 1991 injured, Rick formed a short time a team with Bill Kazmeier.

In December 1992, then the Steiner Brothers were transferred to the then, as now, the biggest wrestling league in the world, the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment), where she quickly tag team were also champions. However, they left the organization after about a year already again. They went back to Japan, where the two were very successful again.

Only in 1995 both came back to the U.S., where she competed for the first few times ECW until 1996 on the most competitive league in the WWF, WCW, changed. There, too, they were very successful and held tag team gold, to Rick 's brother Scott was allowed to turn against him, by this the former group joined nWo. After a feud with his brother Rick wanted to concentrate on his solo career, but had little success, which he gradually disappeared from the scene.

About a year later he made his comeback in WCW, by intervening in a match of his brother Scott and helped him to United States Championship. Thus, the Steiner Brothers were not, however, reunited. Rick continued to focus on his solo career, which culminated in the form of a profit for the WCW Television title he quickly won two times in a row, but just as quickly lost again. Also at this point it went downhill again with Rick Steiner, only winning the United States Heavyweight title, but he wore only 1 month, slowed his further career low point. But it came again to the fact that Rick Steiner once again disappeared from the scene.

After WCW was purchased by the WWF and he could not find a job in the WWF, he wrestled for a while on an independent level, until he then in 2002 to the then newly opened league (TNA Wrestling ) went, but where he remained relatively unsuccessful and they left again. After his departure from TNA Wrestling, he went to the WWA, but shortly thereafter, its doors. Then Rick Steiner joined again in independent leagues, this time with more success. He managed twice to win the WLW (World Leaque Wrestling ) Heavyweight title. Mid-May 2007 was Rick then his comeback in the league TNAW to his brother Scott Steiner of the page, so the two could rekindle the Steiner Brothers again. It began a feud with Team 3D (formerly known as the Dudley Boyz ), which had to be interrupted for a short but because Scott injured. Scott but soon recovered and the feud could be continued.
