Still Life with Curtain, Jug and Fruit Bowl ( in French Rideau, cruchon et compotier ) is a painting by the French Impressionist Paul Cézanne, which he completed in 1894.

Description

The still life shows a wooden table on which are a jug, a tablecloth, three lemons, five oranges, pears and three ten apples. Furthermore, you can still see on the table a bowl of fruit in the fall some of the aforementioned fruits. From left stands a blue curtain in the background. The wallpaper is brown - gray.

Auction

The painting achieved great fame by auction on 10 May 1999. Bought it for $ 60.5 million, an anonymous collector from the United States. The auction house Sotheby's estimated the painting only $ 15 million. It is so far the most expensive sold paintings by Cézanne, because the selling price of the painting is not known The Card Players.
