Ried is located in the Planning Region Augsburg.

History

Ried belonged to Rentamt Munich and the court Friedberg of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

Sirchenried and Zille mountain were incorporated on 1 January 1972. Hörmann mountain was added on July 1, 1972. On May 1, 1978 Baindlkirch and Eismannsberg were added.

The coat of arms description reads: Split of silver and blue, front an upright red grasping lion, behind a silver of rooted stump with instincts and six leaves.

Worth seeing is the church of St. Martin in the district Baindlkirch.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the field of agriculture and forestry 6, 110 in manufacturing and in trade and transport 38 persons work at the workplace. Personalities

Since September 2006, Günter Schottenhammer honorary citizen of the town of Ried. Through his selfless sacrifice of the district Zille mountain escaped on November 26, 1964 disaster. Schottenhammer crashed his RF -84F Thunder flash from near the place. Had he left the machine by ejection seat, it would probably be plunged into the place. He left behind his wife and a then 9 -day-old child.
