Rieju

Rieju ( Rieju, SA ) is a Spanish producer of motorcycles. The Catalan company was founded in 1934 by Luis Riera and Jaime Juanola and with the exception of the Spanish Civil War, continuously active in the market.

The headquarters of Rieju located in Figueres, Province of Girona. The company employs in the year 2006, around 150 employees. The annual production amounts to up to 20,000 vehicles, which are mostly produced for the Spanish domestic market, but recently also for export, say, Germany, France and Austria.

The production includes scooters, mopeds, dirt bikes, scooters, mini cross bikes and road motorbikes with racing style. Rieju in Spain is the leader in this segment. The products are and were partly licensed products, but the offer also includes in-house developments.

The brand received a further boost after the EnMoto group had decided in 1994 to import Rieju motorcycles to Austria. Currently Rieju sold by EnMoto group in several European countries.

Automobile production

In 1955 the company demonstrated at a trade show in Barcelona an automobile. It was a tricycle, in which the individual wheel was back. For driving caused a motorcycle engine -house production, which was mounted in the rear and the rear wheel drive. The body had a dummy grille at the front, two side doors that were hinged at the rear, a bench seat for two people and a folding roof. Only a few units were built.
