Geography

Riethnordhausen located in the Thuringian basin, about ten kilometers north of Erfurt. The village lies on the road between 2142 Straußfurt and Erfurt at the Narrow Gera.

Culture and sights

The most significant attraction of the place is the St. Boniface Church, also known as " Thuringian Lantern". It burned in 1996 from almost completely and has now been replaced by a new building. Only the most visible church tower was built true to the original. The new building of the nave was built by the architect planning Schwarzkopf and Schinzel. Its special feature is a photovoltaic system on the entire southern half of the roof.
