Rif Dimashq Governorate
Rif Dimaschq (Arabic ریف دمشق, DMG Dimašq RIF ) is a province in the south west of Syria and translates around Damascus. It has an area of 18,032 square kilometers and a population of 1,409,520. Capital is Damascus, which forms an independent governorate. Largest city in the province Rif Dimaschq is Duma with 114 761 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2006).
