Southern Riffelspitze, left the northern Riffelspitze

The ripple peaks are two neighboring peaks in Wettersteingebirge, Bavaria. The Southern Riffelspitze is 2263 m high, the Northern Riffelspitze reaches 2242 m.

Location

The ripple peaks rising up in Waxensteinkamm in the northern Wettersteingebirge. To the north is the Eibsee, in the south runs the hell valley. Neighboring mountain in the southwest, is separated by the 2163 m high Riffelscharte, the Riffeltorkopf ( 2,230 m ), to the northeast of the ridge extends further to 2264 m high Schönanger tip.

While rich in the south schrofendurchsetzte grassy slopes almost to the summit ridge covered the walls to the north steep.

Bases and routes

The south west Riffelscharte forms a transition between the northern and southern sides of the Waxensteinkammes, it is accessible via marked trails from Eibsee ( partially insured as a via ferrata ) or Ehrwald, but also from the valleys. There lies with the Höllentalanger hut ( 1381 m) is the most important base for ascents of the mountains.

The Southern Riffelspitze is accessible from the Riffelscharte out in about 20 minutes on a climb to the difficulty I ( UIAA ). Due to the north-west wall leads a climbing route difficulty V.

The normal route to the Northern Riffelspitze leads from the Southern Riffelspitze in 20 minutes I difficulty to the summit. In addition, the mountain on the south-east ( I) and the northeast ridge (II ) can be climbed. The erstbegangene of Willo Welzenbach and E. Müller route through the north-west wall has the V Difficulty.
