Riiser-Larsen Sea

The Riiser -Larsen Sea is a marginal sea of the Southern Ocean off the coast of Antarctica, which lies between the Lazarev Sea in the west and the Kosmonautensee in the east. Its northern border is defined by the 65th degree of latitude. The sea is in much deeper than 3000 m and 1.138 million km ². It's almost the whole year covered by ice, which calve icebergs there. In the south of the sea adjacent to the Princess Astrid Coast and the Princess Ragnhild Coast of Queen Maud Land.

The coast was named after the Norwegian aviation pioneer and polar explorer Hjalmar Riiser -Larsen.
