Rimberg (Knüll)

The Rimberg in Knüllgebirge ( crumpled ) is a 591.8 m above sea level. NN high, massive mountain at Gehau in Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in northern Hesse ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Rimberg located in Südauslauf the Knüll mountain range in the southwest part of the district Hersfeld -Rotenburg between cities Alsfeld in the West and southwest of Bad Hersfeld in the east-northeast. Its summit rises about 9 km southwest of Kirchheim, about 4 km north-west of Breitenbach am Herzberg, 1.6 km north-northwest of Gehau, 3.4 km southeast of Görzhain and 1.8 km south-west of Powerless (each crow flies).

The Ostausläufer of Rimberg is the Great Bartküppel ( 518.5 m ) to the southeast of it lying little Bartküppel (approx. 398 m ), its southern slopes of hops stone ( 505.1 m) and its western foothills of the Good crosshead (approx. 530 m).

North of the Rimberg stems from the auditorium inflow Ibra, Ibra northeast of the inflow water powerless, south past the Rimberg flows in a west-east direction of Jossa inflow Breitenbach and northwest of the mountain springs the Grenff.

The Rimberg is part of Osthessischen red sandstone soil.

Nature Spatial allocation

The Rimberg heard in the main physiographic unit group Osthessisches Bergland ( number 35) in the main unit Fulda Haune - plateau ( 355 ) for natural space Ottrauer Bergland ( 355.0 ).

Transmission facilities

On the north-western part of the Rimberg is since 1957 the station Rimberg (approx. 570 m) from the analogue radio (FM ), digital radio (DAB ) and digital television (DVB -T) is emitted.

Also, some 170 m to the east is from the motel roadhouse Rimberg, beyond the Federal Highway 5, on the Great Bartküppel a transmission tower.

Transport and Tourism

The altitudes of the Rimberg are crossed by very twisty section Hattenbacher Triangle Alsfeld -east of Federal Highway 5, make not only to create trucks whose slopes. The motel roadhouse Rimberg ( 484 m ), which was approximately 500 m east of the mountain summit or immediately west of the A5 built is by motor vehicle from both directions - from the north directly and from the south on a bridge leading across the highway - to reach.

The Rimberg is forested with beech and spruce. Its summit can be, among others, starting at the rest house, climbed during a walk. From the top you can admire the view - for example in the north to Hochknüll - enjoy.
