Rimini protocol

The Rimini Protocol ( later renamed Uppsala protocol; recently as Oil Depletion Protocol known) is a proposal by geologists Colin J. Campbell for a global, cooperative rationing system for production, consumption and import reduction of oil to the world's growing to bring demand for oil in a reasonably good balance with the gradually scarcer and thereby increasingly expensive inventories. The proposal is intended to mitigate the potentially dramatic consequences of the so-called peak oil phenomenon.

To achieve this goal, the oil-importing countries would have to reduce its imports to the extent that the oil reserves decline. Accordingly, the oil-exporting nations would reduce their oil exports. This would cause the price of oil would remain high but stable and therefore predictable. This could be made that it is equally allow all countries to adapt to the inevitable coming ordered and already foreseeable future without oil for a oil price environment.
