Rino Benedetti

Rino Benedetti ( born November 18, 1928 in Ponte Buggianese, † June 14, 2002 in Lucca ) was an Italian racing cyclist.

Sports career

At the age of 20 years Benedetti began more than road racing driver in the amateurs contest. His first national victory in 1949, he celebrated the Giro delle Due Province Marciana. The most successful as an amateur rider, he was in 1951. He first won the Swiss one-day race Giro del Mendrisiotto and was on home soil in Varese runner- road drivers. Overall, he won four road races as an amateur.

Still in his amateur World Cup finals moved Benedetti turned professional, where he first joined the Italian team Legnano. This he was nominated in 1952 for the Giro d' Italia, in which Benedetti won the 8th stage. In the overall classification he was under 91 placed riders 48 From 1952 to 1963 Benedetti took twelve part in the Giro and won four stage wins. With a ranking of 18 in 1956 and 1960, he achieved his best Giro results. As a first time he competed in the Tour de France in 1955, he had already changed to the Italian team Leo Chlorodont. After he had reached only number 42, he once again took part in the Tour in 1962. Although this time he could win a stage ( 22 ), he came in the final accounts under 94 riders ranked only 64th

In 1957 moved Benedetti every year his team. Except for the Italian team was in 1958 when the Swiss racing stables Allegro and Tigra under contract. In his professional driving career, which he finished in 1963 with the Italian team Cynar, he won 21 victories.
