Río Bueno is a commune and city in southern Chile, and is located between Osorno and Valdivia immediately adjacent to the Pan-American Highway. Río Bueno is under the administration of the municipality of Lago Ranco. The city is located in Ranco Province in the Los Ríos Region. The city's name comes from the eponymous river Río Bueno. This cold mountain stream is popular among rafting enthusiasts and anglers. Sights of this city are the large bridge over the Río Bueno and the remains of a Spanish fort from the 18th century. As elsewhere in southern Chile, the number of German immigrants is also very high in Río Bueno.

After Rio Bueno, the Chilean Coast Guard in 1983 named a patrol boat.
