Rio Rancho is the largest city in Sandoval County of the U.S. state of New Mexico. It has 87 521 inhabitants 190.4 km ². Rio Rancho is bordered to the south by Albuquerque, Bernalillo to the north and to the east by Corrales. The city lies on the Rio Grande.

History

The area around present-day Rio Rancho in 1710 colonized by the Spaniards, while the city was founded by the ever progressive colonization in 1981. End of 2006, the city center was restructured and built an arena and a new city hall building.

Population Development

The population rose from 2000 to the end of 2010 by 69 %. This Rio Rancho is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. With 87 521 inhabitants, it is to Albuquerque and Las Cruces is the third largest city in New Mexico.

Economy

The Intel Corporation has approximately 7,000 employees by far the largest employer in Rio Rancho; also Hewlett-Packard employs approximately 1,300 people. 1400 staff working for the Rio Rancho Public Schools. In addition to the services sector and the retail sector, some government agencies provide jobs.
