Río Tercero, Córdoba

Río Tercero is a city in central Argentina, located in the center of the province of Córdoba. It has 44 715 inhabitants and is an important industrial center.

Location

Río Tercero is located on the Río Ctalamochita whose Spanish name Río Tercero gave the name of the city. Ten kilometers west of the city is the same reservoir. The surrounding countryside is flat, it belongs to the humid Pampa and is used for intensive agriculture.

History

The city was founded officially in 1913, although previously already known as Pueblo de la Media Luna village existed here. In the early days it was called after its founder Modesto Acuña. Over time, there are significant industries settled: so the military factory Río Tercero, which produced weapons in particular, and the petrochemical Petroquímica Río Tercero. On November 3, 1995, there were in the military factory strong explosions that led to the destruction of a large part of the factory and the environment all around heavily loaded. It is common at this stage of the investigation almost that the explosions were an arson attack to destroy believed to be records of illegal arms exports Carlos Menem's government ( 1989-99 ).

Attractions

Architecturally interesting buildings are the Villa Elisa, a mansion from the founding period, and the location in the center building of the Banco Provincia de Córdoba.

Economy
