History

On May 1, 1813 prior to the Battle of Großgörschen, the French commander Marshal Jean -Baptiste Bessières fell in Rippach at a Rekognoszierungsritt.

On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Rippach, Muschwitz, Poserna, Großgörschen and Starsiedel merged with the city of Lützen Lützen to the new city.

West of the church, the Federal Highway 9 and north of the federal highway 38 runs The motorway Rippachtal ( opening in November 1997) located in the northwestern part of the municipality.
