Ripstop
Ripstop means substances which are woven using a special technique and tearproof. In this case, thicker yarns are integrated into the otherwise thinner tissue at a distance of typically 5-8 mm. The tissue is replaced by a more or less distinct " computational box structure ". In previous ripstop fabrics these threads stood out from the surface, not so common in the meantime newer web technologies.
Advantages of rip-stop fabrics are the very good Gewichts-/Stabilitätsverhältnis and tear strength. The most important fiber that is processed into ripstop fabric is polyamide, trade name nylon fabric made from it is called ripstop nylon. But polyester and aramids are processed into ripstop fabric.
Ripstop place (for example, polyurethane or provided with various silicone ) coatings application in tent building, as a material for kites, parachutes, paragliders, sailing (hence also known as " Spinnaker Nylon" ), air Aprons by (sports) air -cushion vehicles ( hovercraft ) and propagated - in most cases thicker, but softer versions - in other sport equipment such as clothing or backpacks. Ripstop adhesive is used for the repair of smaller cracks.
