Riqqeh

Riqqeh (ar - Rigga ) is a village in Egypt, near which there are ancient Egyptian cemeteries.

Cemetery grounds

Overall, it is probably the cemeteries of ancient Egyptian resort Gereg that were from 1912 to 1913 by Reginald Engelbach unearthed in a four-month campaign. It consists of several smaller cemeteries, ranging from the Naqada culture up to the present time. Particularly rich were the burials of the 12th Dynasty and the New Kingdom. The cemetery of Naqada culture was found near Gerzeh and is therefore usually known under this name.

In the grave plants found here are generally simple shaft graves, only a few plants are monumental. Some richer grave sites contained inscribed stelae, canopic jars and statues, and from the 12th dynasty come numerous richly decorated coffins. Kind of fame grave with number 124 Here there was numerous gold jewelry, but especially two skeletons were found in the grave chamber. The reconstruction of the findings revealed that a skeleton is attributable to the person buried, while the other skeleton belonged to a grave robber who died in the looting of the tomb; he just robbed the corpse, as the ceiling of the grave chamber collapsed and buried him.
