Rishengchang

The Rishengchang -money institution (Chinese日 升 昌 票 号/日 升 昌 票 号, Pinyin Rishengchang piaohao, English Rishengchang Exchange Shop) in the city of Pingyao (平遥), Shanxi Province, China, was one of the first financial institutions ( piaohao ) in the Chinese history. It was founded in 1823 and is one of the so-called Shanxi banks ( Shanxi piaohao ). About this bank ran for the first time money transfers. Those with a growing network of stores operating bank existed until the end of the Qing Dynasty and wound up not only doing business in China, but also in the whole of East Asia.

The former financial institution is now a museum and is since 2006 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 6-484 ).
